The horrifying truth about your cat
The horrifying truth about your cat:
No wonder your cat is always licking its arse. We fully expect Findus to follow Whiskas’ lead and start selling babies in jelly. Just watch.

Calibre - sending news articles via Gmail with 2 step verification set up
Having set up 2 step verification for additional security, a number of apps initially "break".
Calibre was one of them, as I have it set up to send articles to my free@kindle account via Gmail.
This post suggests it's not possible to change this - http://oldbugs.calibre-ebook.com/ticket/9415#comment:1 - but in fact it is, by setting up an application specific password and entering THAT in Calibre, not the standard Gmail password

Getting all friend updates on Facebook
Scroll down to the bottom of the newsfeed on the homepage and click on “Edit Options”, click on “Show Posts From” and change the setting to “All Of Your Friends and Pages”
Flickr - list of photos uploaded
Flickr uploadr works pretty well, but sometimes breaks part way through an upload. It's not always clear which pics are uploaded and which aren't (short of going through them one by one).
Flickr, as far as I know, doesn't have a simple "export list" option of all pics, but clever people have built an API that does exactly this - it's here - https://secure.flickr.com/services/api/explore/flickr.photos.search
Input the information, and you get XML output including the original file names to allow a (slightly) speedier resolution

Facebook Newsfeed - remove game updates
I don't really have much interest in how FB friends of mine are faring (or not) on their games, so I don't need to see the updates in my newsfeed. Here's how to remove them (at least until FB change their settings again):
Go to the profile of a FB friend who sends you such updates. Find one of the updates, and click on the application name in the right hand side of the update. That takes you to the app page. There you can block the app from sending updates.
